Jazz Ensembles
Auditions for the 2007-2008 Burleigh Manor Jazz Ensembles will be held during sectionals the week of October 1st. Students who are not enrolled in Band should see Mr. Brodie to schedule an audition.
Burleigh Manor Middle School has two Jazz Ensembles. Both meet after school, one on Wednesday, the other on Thursday.
The Wednesday Jazz Ensemble, conducted by Jeffry Brodie, is for more advanced students. The Thursday Jazz Ensemble is directed by Frank Owens, and is for intermediate students.
The Jazz ensembles rehearse from 2:40 p.m. until 3:40 p.m. No school transportation can be provided.
Standard Jazz Ensemble instrumentation is:
- 5 trumpets
- 5 trombones
- 2-4 alto saxophones, 2 tenor saxophones, 2 baritone saxophones
- 2 keyboards
- 3 percussion
- 1 guitar
- 1 bass

Due to the limited rehearsal time, students must be at rehearsals. The absolute maximum number of absences from rehearsal is one unexcused, or two excused.
